TVXQ To Sing Soundtrack For SBS Tv
Drama "Athena: Goddess Of War"TVXQ will take part in the soundtrack for new SBS TV series "ATHENA", announced the drama's promoter Vidan Co on Wednesday.
Film marketing company Vidan stated through a press release that boy band TVXQ will sing a soundtrack to spy thriller "ATHENA", joining the list of big names in the Korean music scene including Park Hyo-shin, Girls' Generation's Taeyeon and Brown Eyed Soul, who have already sung and released soundtracks to the new show.
However, unlike Taeyeon and Brown Eyed Soul who have produced love ballads for "ATHENA", TVXQ's song will incorporate powerful beats and a rhythm to go with the action scenes.
"ATHENA", starring Jeong Woo-eoung, Soo-ae, Cha Seung-won and Lee Ji-ah, is Korea's first attempt at a spin-off drama based on spy action series "IRIS" (2009) from KBS.
"ATHENA", filmed in five nations, is about terrorist acts and threats against the Korean Peninsula and the whole world.
TVXQ, one the leading dance groups in K-pop scene which debuted in 2004 was formerly composed of five members Hero Jaejoong, Micky Yoochun, Max Changmin and U-Know Yunho.
However, after disputing with agency SM Entertainment over the unfairness of their 13-year exclusive contract",Hero" Jaejoong, Micky Yoochun and Junsu halted their activities as TVXQ and instead formed trio JYJ.
TVXQ is now a duo group led by two remaining members Changmin and Yunho who are set to make a comeback to the local music scene on January 5.

JYJ As The Only Korean Artist On
2010’s Best Album PollAccording to reports from the Korea Media, the trio from Korea’s famous group TVXQ who filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment due to contract issues, who is also known as JYJ and formed by Kim JaeJoong, Park YooChun and Xiah JunSu, obtained the 5th place in America’s “Billboard Magazine Readers’ Poll for 2010’s Best 10 Albums”. They have become the only Korean artist appearing on the chart.
JYJ recently released their first worldwide album “The Beginning”, and now they even got hold of a spot in the Billboard chart. Currently at the Billboard magazine’s website, you can also see JYJ’s exclusive introduction page, which includes their biographies, the performances of “Ayyy Girl” which is one of the recorded tracks in the album, some videos of interviews and more.
Apart from that, the album from the famous producer Kanye West who collaborated with JYJ, was also at the 10th place. The first place went to the American Idol-born singer David James Archuleta’s album, while the second and the third place went to rap artist Eminem and America’s country group Lady Antebellum respectively.

Why Was JYJ's Appearance
on TV Shows Rejected?TVXQ trio JYJ was forbidden to appear on TV shows…why?
According to some reports, Kim JaeJoong, Park YooChun and Kim JunSu (JYJ), the trio from TVXQ’s request to appear on a recent TV program was rejected.
A staff revealed that JYJ was set to perform during KBS 2TV’s live broadcast of the 31st Blue Dragon Film Awards on the 26th of November. Songs to be performed were also verified and approved by KBS a week before the actual day.
Although the verification was made before the release of their album, JYJ got the approval only one month after the release of their album in October. According to KBS, the verification results were released on the 24th of November, and 7 songs from JYJ including their hit single, Empty, were qualified to be broadcasted.
But JYJ’s performance was cancelled. The reasons given were due to the lawsuit between JYJ and SM Entertainment which has not ended as well as the result of the official letters sent out by the Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Art Industry (KFPCAI) to all public and cable broadcasting stations, and also the responses from various pop culture related bodies (with SM Entertainment). Hence, inviting JYJ to appear on the show would be an extremely difficult task.
Not only is there the 31st Blue Dragon Film Awards issue, as JYJ has already released their album for nearly 2 months, their music has still not been broadcasted on TV or radio stations. Many fans commented on the message boards of the various major broadcasting stations, requesting them to play JYJ’s songs which have not be played even though the album has been released.
A staff commented and said that if JYJ does not solve their existing problems with SM Entertainment as soon as possible, they may face more difficulties to carry out their future activities. He said that many agencies have the same mindset as KFPCAI, which is to strictly forbid and prevent a same incident from happening again.
JYJ filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment’s exclusive contract last year in July. They debuted under the name of ‘JYJ’, and with the release of their first album, they held showcases but have not appeared on TV programs even once as their activities are being hindered.

Kim Junsu Stars In 2nd Musical
"Tears Of Heaven"

Love that bloomed during the Vietnam War in 1967 in musical “Miss Saigon” has arrived in the upcoming “Tears of Heaven.” The new production derived from singer Jo Sung-mo’s music video for song “Do You Know” (2000), is about the love triangle between Korean soldier Jun (Kim Junsu, Jung Sang-yoon, Jeon Dong-seok) dispatched to Vietnam, female singer Lyn (Yoon Gong-joo, Lee Hye-i), and American Colonel Grayson (Brad Little).
In September of 2009, Seol & Company CEO Seol Do-yoon had declared the production “cannot be produced in Korea since our goal is to go to Broadway.” And a year later, “Tears of Heaven” really came to be produced by a creative team who “has worked on-Broadway before.” Frank Wildhorn of “Jekyll & Hyde” will compose the songs, Gabriel Barre of “Memphis” which swept four awards at this year’s 64th Tony Awards will direct and David Gallo will take charge of the stage’s design.
First and secondary readings for the script took place in New York a year ago and the English version of the soundtrack has been completed. And the idea for the musical may have come from Korea with its producer also being Korean, but the show, set to run at the Main Hall ‘Hae’ of The National Theater of Korea from February 1 to March 19 of next year, will show in the format of a licensed production with English lines and the lyrics for the songs translated. Judgement into whether the show is a success or a failure and how well it was produced will come when the show raises its curtains but until then, the interview below will quench your initial thirst regarding “Tears of Heaven.”

Q: It seems like it’ll be inevitable that “Tears of Heaven” will be compared to “Miss Saigon” because both are set during the Vietnam War and are about the love between a Vietnamese woman and a dispatched soldier.
Seol Do-yoon: If you think the two are similar because they’re set during the same time period, it would be the same for “Les Miserables” which is about the French Revolution or the “Phantom of the Opera” about the Opera House in Paris. That’s why I had asked our creative team from overseas, including Frank Wildhorn, about whether they had watched “Miss Saigon.” But the only similarity is that the setting is the Vietnam War. If you must compare the two, “Miss Saigon” told more about the Bui Doi or social phenomenon such as the ‘American Dream’ while “Tears of Heaven” is focused on love. And while “Miss Saigon” starts off with the actual photograph of the Vietnamese woman parting with her child at the airport, we start off with Jo Sung-mo’s music video for “Do You Know.” We held two workshops in New York with our producer there, officials related to the theater and several experts but not once did they say it’s similar to “Miss Saigon.”
Q: The fact that you cast Kim Junsu is definitely eye-catching. For what reason was this and what process did he go through to get the part?
Seol Do-yoon: Kim Junsu went through a private audition for his role, just like the rest of the cast. Of course we thought of how his casting would affect the production in terms of success but his capability as a musical actor had already been verified through “Mozart!” I felt that he was the right one for his role and the majority of creative teams overseas agreed to it as well.
Kim Junsu: I’m here today as a musical actor although I feel a bit ashamed to call myself one. This will be my second musical after “Mozart!” and unlike the previous production, “Tears of Heaven” will focus more and love along with elements of betrayal and conflict. And I personally think music is most important to a musical but Frank Wildhorn’s music was different from that of “Mozart!” --classical but containing a lot of pop music-like elements so I feel like that’s what I could do a good job of bringing out. It’s true that I’m very nervous as well but I’d like to enjoy the situation I’m in with the audience.
( Junsu is not getting a guaranteed fee, his lines will be in Korean, interesting bits of info about Jun the Korean soldier and TOH will potentially show in Broadway, Japan & Europe! )

Male duo band TVXQ [SM Entertainment]
Korean boy band TVXQ’s new single has received the most pre-orders in Japan, according to their agency SM Entertainment on Thursday.
SM revealed in press release today that TVXQ’s new album, set to go on sale in Japan on January 26, took first place on the daily and weekly pre-orders list of HMV Japan, a major online shopping and information sites for music, DVD, games and others goods.
The single has already been selected as the main theme song for upcoming Japanese drama “Beautiful Neighbors (美しい隣人)" which will go on air on Fuji TV starting January 11.
The boys will also take part in the soundtrack for a drama in Korea as well -- singing a song for SBS spy action-thriller “Athena" which is the spin-off to last year's blockbuster TV series "IRIS."
TVXQ, one the leading dance groups in K-pop scene since debuting in 2004, was formerly composed of five members Hero Jaejoong, Mickey Yuchun, Max Changmin and U-Know Yunho.
However, after disputing with agency SM over the unfairness of their 13-year exclusive contract, Jaejoong, Yuchun and Junsu halted their activities as TVXQ and instead formed trio JYJ.
TVXQ is now a duo group led by two remaining members Changmin and Yunho who are set to resume their activities in both Korea and Japan in January.

TVXQ Will Also Be Participating
In “Athena” OST TVXQ became a sudden addition to the SBS Monday-Tuesday drama “Athena: Goddess of War” Original Soundtrack (OST).
TVXQ, who is set for their comeback next January, has been scheduled to release a long-awaited new song for the “Athena” OST. The TVXQ song to be used as “Athena’s” insert song is brilliant and has a fast beat, overflowing with power that suits the action scenes.
The production company for “Athena”, Taewon Entertainment said “TVXQ’s powerful vocals matches the action scenes perfectly” and “A different dimension of action carthasis is probably present," expressing their hopes. As this is their first new song being released after such a long time, TVXQ’s “Athena” insert song has become a big topic, and is highly anticipated.
On the other side, “Athena” is a powerful action show which has shown a promising start, recording over 20% in viewership ratings, and is currently being aired.
