[TRANS] 110808 JYJ To Hold Special Photo Exhibition, Photos Taken By Members Personally

JYJ will be holding a photo exhibition named “Mine” for 10 days at Insa Cultural Center, Seoul, starting from 12 August.

This exhibition will include the daily photos and story records done by the members during their previous JYJ World Tour Concert in North America, Canada and Asia.

JYJ members would be able to communicate their fans through the photos they have taken personally. JYJ had been bringing a camera around two weeks before the photo exhibition, so as to be able to capture their daily lives and stories through photo-taking.

JYJ expressed, “We created happy memories with many fans during our two month long world tour in America, Canada and Asia, and we would like to share these with our Korean fans, hoping that this would be a chance to share the passion in JYJ’s music, as well as to thank our fans. Insa-dong is a place that could make one feel especially emotional, hence we are anticipating this photo exhibition.”

Park Yoochun is currently taking a rest after he has ended his drama, while Kim Jaejoong is currently acting as Cha Mu Won in SBS drama series “Protect The Boss”. Kim Junsu has recently released an OST of SBS drama series “Scent Of A Woman” named “You Are So Beautiful” , raising a storm in the music charts.

[TRANS] 110803 [Interview #2] Kim Jaejoong, “What Do Junsu-Yoochun Mean To Me? They Are The Reason I Live”

Kim Jaejoong is cold? Prim? Quiet? If that’s what you thought of him, we ask you to forget that Kim Jaejoong, trapped by the image of an ice prince.

◆Kim Jaejoong is an ice prince? … “Though I may look cold, I have a hidden approachability”

Contrary to his cold and distant appearance, Kim Jaejoong boasts an approachable character and many personal connections. Popular Japanese group W-inds’ Keita and Yamashita Tomohisa, one of Japan’s greatest idols, have both revealed that they are close friends with Kim Jaejoong, bringing their friendships into the spotlight.

When we brought up the fact that Yamashita Tomohisa said, “I want to release an album with Jaejoong,” Kim Jaejoong smiled and said, “It’s just a passing comment. He always says things like that,” and showed off his close friendship with the Japanese celebrity. What interested many was the fact that Kim Jaejoong returned from the ‘Park Ji Sung and Friends’ soccer tournament in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam with a new friend, soccer star Jung Tese. The two frequently talk on Twitter and have kept their tight friendship alive till now.

What is the secret to his ‘amazing sociability’? Kim Jaejoong said, “It’s kind of weird for me to call it ‘amazing sociability’, but I think I’m the type of person who has an appearance that most people feel unfamiliar with,” and “If people like me approach others first and we get to know each other, I think we become friends quicker. There are many times when people are surprised because I don’t act the way they expected me to, and we end up talking and becoming friends.“

He smiled and continued to say, “I wouldn’t call it approaching them first, but it’s more like trying to be the first to say hi. There won’t be anyone who will refuse to greet you back if you initiate it first,” and “There have been lots of people who told me that I’m very different from what they thought I would be like.”

◆What is JYJ to Kim Jaejoong? “I live for Junsu and Yoochun”

There are two names that make Kim Jaejoong smile brighter. They are none other than his fellow members Kim Junsu and Park Yoochun. Whenever their names came out during our conversation, Kim Jaejoong tended to smile and laugh more.

Kim Jaejoong is registered as a member of FC MEN, of which Kim Junsu is the captain. But Kim Jajeoong has yet to step foot on the pitch. Regarding this, Kim Jaejoong jested and said, “I participate only in name. The captain put in our names as Yoochun and Jaejoong the soccer players but he’s never once used us in a match.” He burst into laughter after setting an attack on Kim Junsu as he said, “We’re nothing but a promotional strategy.”

At the end of his spell of laughter, Kim Jaejoong said, “But I love Junsu,” putting a sweet end to his tale and showing his affection for his fellow member.

Kim Jaejoong is the oldest of the three members of JYJ. But he depends on his younger members as much as they rely on him. When this interview took place, Kim Jaejoong was suffering hard from the sudden cancellation of JYJ’s appearance on a Jeju special program.

We asked Kim Jaejoong what got him back on his feet when he was worn out, tired and wanted to quit. And this brought us straight back to his members.

“Of course, it’s our members. I think it would have been too hard if I had been walking down this road alone. It’s only possible because I’m with Junsu and Yoochun. We split our pains in three and share our gains equally in three. I want to place great meaning on the fact that we are together, no matter what we do. The same goes with our fans and staff members.“

What do the two members mean to Kim Jaejoong? He wasn’t able to answer this question easily and thought about it for quite a while. After much thought and consideration, he turned the place into a sea of laughter when he parodied a commercial as he stated, “Ah, they’re great. But I can’t think of a way to pinpoint what they mean to me exactly.” When the laughter died out, Kim Jaejoong gave us his sincere confession.

Actually, it’s hard to explain what those two people are in my life because they mean so much to me. Nothing can compare to them. They’re kind of like my arms in a way. You can’t live without both arms, right? Like that, I’m able to live because I have both of them by my side.”

His voice seemed to shake and his throat clammed up as he expressed what he felt about his two younger members, Kim Junsu and Park Yoochun. But soon, Kim Jaejoong found his cheer once more as he discussed the right arm, left arm and body of JYJ.

The name of Kim Jaejoong’s first domestic drama is ‘Protect the Boss’. So what would Kim Jaejoong like to protect?

I want to protect and carry on the relationship that I have with our members right now. And I want to cherish and protect all the music, performances and memories from our debut till now. And I want to keep as many of our fans around as possible (T/N: He’s using the double meaning of the word, which could mean keep or protect, depending on the context. This explains the laughter at the end).(laughter)”

[TRANS] 110803 [Interview #1] Kim Jaejoong, “The Devaluation Of Idols Saddens Me.. I Want To Be An Idol Forever”

There is a man who was an idol, is an idol and wants to stay an idol in the future. It’s quite hard to define this man with just one word. Holding the representative title as a singer, he has even taken on directing and acting.

Though he gives off the air of a ChaDoNam(Cold City Guy), he spits out a charming dialect that makes him approachable. Beneath the face that bursts into fits of laughter at even the smallest of statements lies a strong heart that isn’t afraid of challenges, and his sincere honesty that has matured through time comes through in everything he says. The name of this man is Kim Jaejoong.

◆Kim Jaejoong’s new challenge ‘Acting’… “There are no limits”

Kim Jaejoong has stood in front of a new starting line to cross the hurdles of acting. Taking on the role of ‘the prince of the financial world’ Cha Mu Won in SBS’ new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Protect the Boss’, Kim Jaejoong seemed nervous yet excited for his domestic drama debut.

When we talked about the fact that his senior actors praised him for his work, Kim Jaejoong’s strong and wide shoulders suddenly shrunk inwards. Asking back, “Maybe I’m about to make it big?” Kim Jaejoong soon burst out into laughter and covered his face as he did so. Saying, “I’m so grateful. I think they rephrased their hope for me to work harder than I already am in their words,” Kim Jaejoong scratched his head as if he felt embarrassed by the compliments.

Though he already has some acting experience in his pocket, this will be Kim Jaejoong’s first time acting in a domestic drama. He must be more nervous than ever since this will be the first time he’s meeting his domestic viewers through a drama. And a harsher criterion may be placed on Kim Jaejoong as he has already put forth his name and face as a singer for the past seven years.

Kim Jaejoong said, “I could never say ‘I’d like it if I got a huge amount of praise.’ I just want to give our viewers a production in which I show great chemistry with my fellow actors,” and “My biggest goal is to become someone who works in harmony with the drama, not someone who carries on the image that I’ve had till now as a singer.”

He also added, “I want to be a person who can take on any challenge and absorb everything, as the individual Kim Jaejoong and as a member of JYJ. My goal is to become a person with no limits and a group with no limits.“

◆Idol label? “I want to be an idol forever”

Any person who made his or her debut as an idol always has the ‘idol’ label on them wherever the go. Some are embarrassed by it and try to hide their idol status while others strive to evolve from an idol to an artiste. Between this two sides stands Kim Jaejoong with his own beliefs about idols.

I like being called an idol. Wouldn’t it be more stressful if you debuted as a singer-song writer but then wanted to become an idol? (laughter) Many people have prejudiced thoughts when it comes to idols but when I see my juniors these days, there are so many of them who could succeed as solo singers. They all do so well so it I don’t think it’s right to keep them tied to a stereotyped belief based on the name or appearance of their group.

Kim Jaejoong expressed his disappointment at the devaluation of idols as well. He confessed his truthful thoughts and said, “Idols are actually at a position where they can try out more things than the usual singer. I see it as a job that you can gain more from when you compare it to other jobs as a celebrity.”

He continued to say, “The members of JYJ are now getting into our late 20s but we’re still idols, and we’ll probably still call ourselves idols, even when we reach our 30s,” and “Aren’t the Backstreet Boys and SMAP called idols too?”

Kim Jaejoong smiles shyly one second and states his opinions concisely the next; we can’t wait for the new acting challenge of this man.
