“Even though I was nervous about acting for the first time in a Japanese drama, everyone was kind to me so I was able to finish filming smoothly!!”

In Fuji TV’s television drama “Sunao ni Narenakute”, Jejung challenges acting for the first time. He also attended the drama’s production preview & interview. On that day, the five lead actors revealed their feelings
about watching the first episode, and at the same time,
Jejung also spoke about his feelings on his acting debut.

“To see my own face in a Japanese drama was really a new experience! (laughs)”

“Every time ‘DOCTOR’ is in pain, he would think of ‘Haru’.
That’s why I envy ‘Nakaji’ (laughs)”

“Sunao ni Narenakute” is a television drama about five people who met through Twitter and formed a close friendship with one another. It also shows the romantic developments amongst them. This drama will begin broadcasting every Thursday from the 15th of April at 10 pm on Fuji TV. However, before the broadcast of the first episode, they held a “production preview & interview” session. Other than the screenwriter, Eriko Kitagawa-san and the producer, the two main leads Eita and Ueno Juri, Tamayama Tetsuji, Seki Megumi, and even Jejung, who is acting for the first time in a Japanese drama, attended the session. Before the preview of the first episode, all seven of them went on stage and upon the request of the host, gave their greetings briefly. Eita said with confidence, “When the five of us were filming, the atmosphere was very harmonious, just like how it is now. I believe that when the second episode starts, everyone will like this television drama.” The third person, Jejung, also smiled and said,
“Today, I’m really happy …” After that, he would look at the host or the audience from time to time, saying, “I’m really thankful for being able to participate in today’s event. Even though I was nervous about acting in a Japanese drama for the first time, everyone was kind to me so I was able to finish filming smoothly.”

After that, the audience and the press members who came for the session were treated to the preview of the first episode,
while the actors watched it in another room.

Jejung, who was the focus of much attention, first appeared in a suit to the Twitter meeting [in the show]. This was never seen before, and Jae Jung seemed to shine as he appeared on screen. Jejung’s character is called “DOCTOR” on Twitter, but he is actually a young salesman for a medical device manufacturing company named Park Sung Su. As his sales record was always the lowest, he was constantly bullied in the office and in the first episode, his boss poured water on his head. While standing alone in a room facing a whiteboard which had all the sales records written on it, he placed the red flower representing “first place” under his own name. Heart wrenching scenes like this was aplenty in the first episode. Also, whether or not Sung Su will confess his feelings to Haru (played by Ueno Juri), or develop another relationship with another character stands to be determined and everyone can anticipate the future development of the story. Also, the relation of Sung Su’ sister, Minha, who appears in the first episode, to the development of the story along with Sung Su’s care and concern towards Minha will definitely be something to look out for.

About an hour after the “production preview” had ended, the main cast of five appeared before the audience and received an enthusiastic response.

Firstly, after Eita said the sentence “I really want to see the second episode soon!” the audience showed their agreement through their applause..
Then, Ueno Juri also shared her thoughts as a professional actress,
“When I was looking at the script, my heart became heavy, but while watching the film, I could feel happiness at the same time.”
Following that, when Jejung was asked “What do you feel about your acting?”, he smiled as he answered, “Ya, to see my own face in a Japanese drama, it felt strange (laughs). I would feel like, ‘Is this really Jejung?’” Indeed, for Jejung who started learning Japanese through watching Japanese dramas and anime, seeing his progress through the character on screen must have been refreshing. Then he said, “I watched this drama shouting and watching at the same time. I’ve always wanted to see the scenes of the other actors, in the end I exploded in laughter when I saw LINDA’s part (laughs)”. Tamayama Tetsuji, who played the role of LINDA also said, “From the room next door I could hear (Jejung’s) ‘Naaaa!’ being shouted really loudly.” Apparently, after seeing the kissing scene between the character LINDA and his boss’s, Jejung could not help but to shout out. Just as Tamayama Tetsuji finished saying “Now I really want to film the scene where my boss and I were drinking coffee together (laughs)”, Jejung immediately replied, “I’m really anticipating it!”. During the Q&A session, one could really experience for themselves the harmonious atmosphere amongst the actors.

Also, regarding the character “DOCTOR”, Jejung replied, “’DOCTOR’ will always find a way to overcome whatever problems he faces. Whenever he feels hurt, he will think of ‘Haru’. That’s why I envy ‘Nakaji’(Eita) (laughs)! “,
his reply caused the atmosphere to liven up further.
After the session, it was time for the media to take photos, and even though the media almost filled the venue, the photo session was completed smoothly.

The drama will have its finale in June. The complicated relationships between each character, along with their anxieties, and what kind of a story it’ll develop into, we shall wait and see.
