The start of the new year 2011 has already sparked off intense competition between various idol boy bands.
With various new idol groups announcing their mentor-student relationships, like how Infinite and Teen Pop are being led by their mentor, MBLAQ, world-class idol groups like TVXQ and Big Bang are successively releasing their new albums. This hereby indicates the start of the whirlwind caused by male idol groups after a female idol group domination in the music industry last year.
TVXQ released a special edition of the album featuring their hit single “Why (Keep Your head Down)” on 5th January. At the same time, Big Bang’s duo sub-group, formed by GD & TOP, has also released three singles “High High”, ”Oh Yeah” and “Knock Off”, which have gained a huge amount of popularity. Around the month of January, Big Bang’s Seungri is also set to release a solo album.
Before the release of their album, MBLAQ officially released their hit single “Cry” on the 3rd, adding on to the intense competition. “Cry” has since took over the search charts of Mnet, Bugs and many other main music sites, alongside TVXQ, Big Bang and IU.
Compared to the period of time when Girls’ Generation swept and took over the music industry with “Gee” and “Oh”, this marks the start to an earth-shaking change.
