Kim JaeJoong of JYJ prayed for the speedy recovery for the King of Thailand.
Kim JaeJoong on March 23rd visited Siriraj Hospital located in Bangkok Thailand praying for the speedy recovery of their King, Bhumibol Adulyadej. He proceeded through the ritual prayers for the king and also wished for the well being of the people inThailand.
Kim JaeJoong’s visit to the hospital came about through by mere coincidence. During his stay in Thailand while in their promotional vehicle, he learned of the news that the King was very ill, when he asked for the meaning of the bracelets worn by the fans. Right away,though not in their schedule he surprised everyone around him by voluntarily paying respect at the hospital. The bracelet initiated by the Royalty, symbolizes national unity. However, it is now more symbolic for the recovery of their King’s health.
Kim JaeJoong after the completion of the performance on the 3rd, when asked by the media about his visit to the hospital, he stated ” I just wanted to show my respect to the person our Fans love and respect just as much as our fans have shown their love for us. I wasn’t able to meet the King directly but I wish him a speedy recovery as soon as possible”
Kim JaeJoong’s thoughtful act is getting unusual spotlight at this time. Even when he was heading towards the hospital wishing for the quick recovery of the King, he wore a pink neck tie and composed his own prayers. As the news of this event spread the praise towards him is escalating around Thailand. He is not just a singer visiting to perform but a promoter of the friendship between the two countries.He took on the responsibility of a cultural envoy.
With the quick boom of the Hallyu Wave, it created many side effects. Not respecting the cultural values of others but only focusing on the exportation of their own culture which created even an Anti-Hallyu Wave movement. There were many issues and criticisms of the Korean Celebrities when visiting foreign countries due to their arrogant attitudes. During this time when the Hallyu wave is noted to be in crisis, Kim JaeJoong’s prayers in Thailand brings more warmth to their hearts.
Even the Royal Family showed caring hospitality towards him. Travel by air and then visiting Thailand with their promotional vehicle, he was not able to prepare a proper suit. On his behalf the Royal Family showed generosity by closing down one level of the famous shopping center at Siam Paragon to have him choose his clothing. On the 2nd the Royal Family directly attended the concert and after the viewing expressed their thanks for visiting the hospital. Kim JaeJoong respectfully stated, “I only did what I should have been done”
