[trans: Interview with JaeJoong's father Pt 1/2 - excerpt from JJB, JaeJoong's Birthday Book]
Q : There was a long vacation after the concert,
did you all get together and spend time together?
JJ's father: Yes, we were all together.
Q : Jaejoong travels overseas often, this must be the first time to meet with his family after the concert. What was it like to see him in such a long time?
JJ's father: After they left [SME] and did a concert, it looked like they were laid the foundation to a certain degree. My family and I were all happy. And then he came to visit us and spent time with his sisters, so it looked like he was leading a very comfortable and stable life.
Q : Oh, so more stable than before~ I’m sure it looked like he was more comfortable because he has more free time now.
JJ's father: He could come home and rest comfortably with his sisters, and there was much less pressure (means less uncomfortable) in terms of family atmosphere now, and he’s not as busy as before, so he had a good rest.
Q : It was so cold on the evening of the concert. Did he talk about the concert at all?
JJ's father: I was so cold. I was really cold. If he wasn't my kid, I don’t think I would have gone [to the concert]. But I went because my own child was doing it, and it was all really worth the trouble.
Q : [your heart] Must have been filled with emotions.
JJ's father: Of course, beyond words.
Q : You know Jaejoong does this thing called twitter a lot. He tweeted that he cried so much… at the after party after the concert.
JJ's father: I don’t know. I didn't go to the after party.
Q : So he didn't really show it [that he cried] at all when he's back home?
JJ's father: Yes, he didn't really show it [that he cried a lot].
Q : Yes, [he only shows] the bright side?
JJ's father: Yeah
Q : It looks like he's lost a lot of weight. Did he lose a lot of weight?
JJ's father: He didn't loose weight, he probably gained weight. Haha
Q : Was there anything interesting/fun while he was back home?
Or did he just have a good~ rest?
JJ's father: We played go stop, and he took all his mom's and dad's money. He took all his sisters' money as well.
Q : hahaha, he swept everyone's money away~
JJ's father: Yes
Q : By the way, didn't he eat less because he's on a diet?
He seemed like he wasn't eating much because he exercised and stuff.
JJ's father: Even what his mom makes…
not only because he's on a diet, but it was just a little less.
Q : Oh…. So [he was] eating less.
JJ's father: He barely eats. After he eats dinner, even if others eat he won't eat too much.
Q : But he drinks alcoholic drinks (^^:) a bit, no?
JJ's father: He didn't drink. He was eager about losing weight. He said he gained too much [weight].
Q : It must have been sad for you (안쓰러우시겠어요) because he didn't eat well..
JJ's father: It’s always like that for parents. When our children come back home, we [parents] want our children to eat a lot of good food, eat what we make for them, and that'll be great. But it was sok sang ha ji (속상하지, a mixture of sad, upset, worried, etc.) because he won’t eat what we make for him once he finishes his dinner because he’s on a diet.

Q : so there’s a new newphew/niece in the family, Jaejoong really adores him/her. ^^
What is he like as an uncle?
JJ's father: He adores her so much. He holds her a lot, and what is it? You know how you put [a baby] in the hoodie, what is it called? He puts her on his shoulders, hugs her a lot, he really adores her.
Q : Sooner than later...You want grandchildren [from JaeJung]..
after he gets married...
JJ's father: hahaha
Q : When [people] see a baby, sometimes they think “oh, I want a baby, too”. Does he ever talk about that?
JJ's father: Well, we think about that~ but we don’t talk to JaeJung about it because he doesn’t [seem interested/not ready/not the right time yet, it's not clear what the father is saying] yet. 우리는 그런 마음 있느데~재중이한테 그런 애기는 안해.아직은 저기 한다고 하니깐
Q : Did he take any food with him this time?
JJ's mother: [I] made him kimchee, dong chi mi and cabbage kimchee.
Q : What did he like the most?
JJ's mother: he liked white kimchee (the non-spicy kind) and all… [He] liked cabbage kimchee and scallion kimchee.
Q : His sister said [they] made duk bok kee last year and what not,
she shared fun stories~ Are there any this time around?
JJ's mother: Yes. His sister Min Kyung made a lot [of food] for him, but he couldn’t eat them too much either because he had a shooting the next day.
Q : Did he ever talk about any dramas, movies or some other areas/fields?
JJ's mother: Probably... [he said] to wait for good results. That there are going to be good results. So wait for them. Please cheer for Jaejoong~ Jaejoong won’t go against (meaning disappoint) his fans.
Q : Please say good bye words for his fans.
JJ's father: We couldn’t attend [the birthday party] this year because of the circumstances, so we feel really disappointed. I want fans to be more understanding (verbatim trans, I personally think he means to be patient with JaeJung) in the future.
There were a lot of fans at the concert even though the weather was so cold. Fans troubled themselves and came to both concerts, and I came on both days, too. I even went on the bus (he made a surprise visit to the Jaejoong Bus! ^^)
I really felt that Jaejoong didn’t lose his fans’ heart. Even though here and there [things are happening – he’s referring to the plight Jaejoong is in], there are still a lot of fans who follow him and that’s why JYJ exists now, this came to my mind. Please do more just like that in the future (meaning continue to support him in the future), so fans can help JaeJung can grow more. That is my hope as his father.
JJ's mother: There have been a lot of wandering around, and he's just starting anew. But a lot of fans respond to (meaning love) him and follow him. So [a lot of fans] came to the concert when it was so cold, they came on both days and watched the conert till the very end, and I was very grateful for that.
And JYJ owes it all to you fans that they came this far. Please support, lead and push from behind (meaning back up) JYJ and Jaejoong , Kim Jaejoong , so that [they] will be even more popular and successful.
And dear fans who have prepared the birthday party and who came to the party, please stay healthy and I wish you a happy new year.
* I think a lot is lost in translation…But as a native speaker of Korean, I can tell based on the interview as that his parents love JaeJung deeply and are very grateful of his fans. They sound like such good-hearted people. Now I know why Jaejoong is such a good-natured guy who is affectionate and always considerate of others - he got that from his family. *
