[TRANS] 110301 QTV Cancels 'JYJ Real24' - The Full Controversy In One Post Notice on QTV Broadcast Cancellation

Hello.

This notice is to inform that the QTV broadcast has been canceled.

The broadcasting of 'Real TV', that got up close and personal with JYJ's daily lives in order for fans to get close to JYJ, has been cancelled.

Though JYJ's RealTV was set to air in February, we have been notified today by QTV that this will not be happening.

We give our sincere apologies to the fans who have highly anticipated JYJ's RealTV through QTV's official announcements and advertisements.

The QTV footage will be sent to C-JeS Entertainment and we will try our best to have this footage available to fans as soon as possible.

Thank you.

C-JeS' Stance on the Issue

With JYJ's reality program canceled, JYJ's side has spoken up about the issue.

A representative of JYJ stated in a phone conversation with newsen that, "We were notified of the cancellation yesterday, and everyone knows why QTV made the decision to cancel the show," and "This isn't the first time something like this has happened to JYJ, so we don't resent QTV."

This representative continued to say, "The members worked hard to reveal everything about their bright and fun daily lives and were even filmed visiting Kim Junsu at his musical performance. We filmed them for almost two months, so we do feel slightly disappointed because there was a lot of footage but we hope the fans will be understanding of the current situation."

He then revealed, "What is most important is showing the waiting fans the footage we took," and "We are currently discussing options on how to show the fans the footage, whether it be online or on a tv channel."

(omitted)

The program, that was to consist of eight episodes, garnered great interest as it went up close and personal into JYJ's lives as cameras followed them 24/7. They were planning on revealing the inside of their houses, something they've never done before on tv.

Fans who were waiting for the program could not hide their disappointment at the cancellation. Their criticisms against QTV rose as they said, "Let's hear your excuse as to why it was canceled," "You filmed it and advertised it and now you come along and cancel it? Does that even make sense?" amd "I knew this would happen when they first delayed the airing date."

QTV States, 'There Was No External Pressure In The Decision To Cancel JYJ's Program'

With 'JYJ Real 24' cancelled, QTV has spoken up on the issue to deny the rumors that external pressure was what forced them to cancel the show.

In a phone conversation, a QTV representative stated, "The JYJ reality program was canceled due to scheduling issues," and "Though we have put all our strength into the publication rights and time tuning to fit the schedule, we could not fit the show into our schedule as it would overlap with the QTV-made programs we have lined up for April and May."

Regarding the previously stated airing date of the JYJ reality program, the representative stated, "We hadn't even completed plans to air the show," and "We were planning on airing the reality program after buying the publication rights; the program isn't a QTV-produced program."

Regarding rumors that external pressure was what forced QTV to cancel the program, the representative stated, "The Courts have already laid down a verdict on that issue, and there was no external pressure placed on QTV whatsoever."

QTV's Flip-flopping Explanation 'What Is The Truth?'

Regarding the delay of the airing of the 'JYJ Real 24' program, cable channel QTV stated in a phone conversation with on the 22nd last month, "We are currently in discussion with C-JeS as our opinions regarding domestic publication rights do not match." At the time, a representative from the QTV PR team stated, "Though it is certain that the airing date will be later than the expected date, we will not cancel the program. We hope it is finalized in the master schedule as soon as possible."

But in one week, QTV has suddenly changed its stance on the issue.

On the 1st, C-JeS, the agency managing JYJ, stated in their homepage that, "The broadcasting of 'Real TV', that got up close and personal with JYJ's daily lives in order for fans to get close to JYJ, has been canceled."

QTV is stating that the program was cancelled as it does not fit into the channel's schedule. In a phone conversation, QTV stated, "The JYJ reality program was canceled due to scheduling issues," and "Though we have put all our strength into the publication rights and time tuning to fit the schedule, we could not fit the show into our schedule as it would overlap with the QTV-made programs we have lined up for April and May." This representative continued to say, "We hadn't even completed plans to air the show," and "We were planning on airing the reality program after buying the publication rights; the program isn't a QTV-produced program."

But their argument lacks the power of persuasion and adequate justification. It wasn't as if the filming went on for one or two days,; it had already gone on for two whole months. Cameras followed the members everywhere to capture their daily lives from magazine photoshoots to even their houses.

Till now, QTV has been advertising the show through official announcements and the media. It aroused the curiosity and anticipation of JYJ fans through teasers on their homepage and their Twitter account. Therefore, viewers are finding it hard to understand that all this advertisement was done for a program that hadn't even been confirmed to air on QTV.

This is why rumors are floating around that external pressure caused QTV to cancel the show. It is suspicious that QTV suddenly comes forward and gives a lousy 'excuse' that the program didn't fit into the schedule when just last week, they were stating that the show would not be canceled.

Enraged fans stated, "You've been telling us to anticipate the program till now, but you've suddenly turned around and said you had never fully confirmed to air it. How are we supposed to just accept that?" and "I'm furious at QTV's excuses that seem to change every time."

On the other hand, as the controversy intensified, QTV released an official statement on their homepage that read, "A program that was set to air in February will not be aired due to unfortunate conditions. We apologize for causing our viewers confusion with an inaccurate schedule."

Lawyer Park Chan Jong is raising his voice that broadcasting companies are partaking in unjust acts.

On the 2nd, lawyer Park Chan Jong left a tweet on his Twitter account that was titled, "To the chairman of the Korea Communication Commission."

It read, "Regardless of the fact that the Courts have ruled that the exclusive contract between JYJ and SM is practically invalid, broadcasting companies continue to partake in unjust acts such as refusing JYJ appearance on their shows and canceling their programs."

He then stated, "The Korea Communication Commission must condemn these actions," and "Protect the nation's constitution!"
