[TRANS] 110202 Junsu's 'Tears Of Heaven' Ends In A Sea Of Tears, Audience Say "It Was So Moving'
"It was sad and I cried so much. It's such a touching production."
Audience members of the first performance of 'Tears of Heaven', the global project musical featuring Kim Junsu (TVXQ's Xiah Junsu), were busy wiping tears away as they left the theater.
The first performance of 'Tears of Heaven' was held at 8pm on February 1st at the National Theater in JangChoong-dong, Seoul. All 1500 seats were sold out and fans of Xiah Junsu who were unable to secure tickets flocked to the theater to see if they could buy scalper's tickets. But it was close to impossible to get even those as the show had already been sold out for more than 20 days.
'Tears of Heaven' is a large-scale musical centered around a love story that blooms amidst the war in Vietnam anbd it targets the global market. A total of 3 years and 6 months were put into the preparation of the musical and five countries (Hungary, USA, Canada, Czech Republic, Japan) were visited in the process.
In the production, Xiah Junsu plays the lead role of Jun, a Korean soldier in Vietnam who falls in love with a Vietnamese woman and gives his all to her; he showcased charismatic acting skills and explosive vocal abilities.
The dramatic scenes in Vietnam, San Francisco and Seoul captivated the audience who couldn't help but clap enthusiastically at Xiah Junsu and Yoon Gong Ju's perfect performance. Women could be seen wiping tears away as they left the theater for intermission after the first act.
In the second act, the earnest love between the Korean soldier and Vietnamese woman that overcame an ill-fated love and death made the eyes of audience members prickle with tears, and many women could be seen wiping these tears away as they sat deep in thought watching the show.
When the performance was over, the entire crowd gave the production cast a standing ovation.
On this day, Jung Sang Yoon and Jeon Dong Seok, the two actors cast alongside Kim Junsu for the lead role, as well as Lee Haeri were seen amongst the crowd as audience members.
The third round of reservations of 4,500 seats for 'Tears of Heaven' was sold out in 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Kim Junsu, who showcased his extreme ticket power by selling out the first round of 15,000 seats in 5 minutes and the second round of 13,000 seats in 3 minutes and 30 seconds, set a new record by selling the third round of tickets in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Xiah Junsu stated, "I really want to thank the musical, the musical maniacs who love me, and my fans. The lights, set and audio system that a global staff worked on was so perfect. 'Tears of Heaven' will be a great performance that could be put on Broadway with pride."
The large-scale musical 'Tears of Heaven', that was created by global giants of the industry, held its first performance on February 1st and will keep playing at the National Theater's Haeoreum Hall until March 19th.

[NEWS]110131 Tickets for JYJ Junsu’s ‘Tears of Heaven’ sell out in 2.5 minutes
The third performance of JYJ Junsu’s musical, ‘Tears of Heaven’, sold out all 4,500 tickets in just 2 minutes and 30 seconds, proving once again his powerful influence over ticket sales.
For reference, the very first sale of 10,500 tickets were sold out in 5 minutes, the second round sold out 10,300 tickets in 3 minutes 30 seconds, and now this recent third round of ticket sales sold out in the fastest time yet. Regarding this happy event, Junsu expressed, “Thank you so much to the musical lovers and my fans.”
‘Tears of Heaven’ will be a massive production, as it brings together world talents like composers Frank Wildhorn (‘Jekyll and Hyde’), Gabriel Berry (‘Sweeney Todd’), and musical star Brad Little.

Story Background:
In the well-known Vietnam War, Joon is a South Korean soldier who is dispatched to Vietnam. The South Korean soldiers of that time are sent by the American troops, and Colonel Grayson is the leader of the unit that Joon belongs to. Colonel Grayson becomes enchanted by Linh, a Vietnamese female singer who performs at the concert hall. At the same time, Joon falls in love with Linh at first sight. The two of them sink into the river of love and commit to marriage. Colonel Grayson learns of their love, and in his jealousy sends Joon to the most difficult and dangerous battlefield. He also conspires with Quyen, who is secretly in love with Joon, to deceive Linh and tell her that Joon has already died. Succeeding, he brings Linh to America. Joon returns from the battlefield and Quyen tells him the truth that Linh had left for America, pregnant with his child. Thus Joon searches the world and finally finds his and Linh's daughter, Tianna.

17. This is my confession: Quyen frankly tells Joon that Linh didn't actually go to America for her own interests, but rather because she believed Joon had died; moreover she tells him that when Linh left, she was already pregnant with his child
18. Tiger and the dove finale: Tiger (Joon) searches the world and finds a singing voice the same as Linh's, but it is a much younger girl; she is actually his daughter Tianna

Considering how there are a lot of JYJ fans who are in tears over not being able to purchase tickets for Junsu’s musical, “Tears of Heaven“, the producers of the show have decided to open up a third opportunity.
They stated, “For those 30,000 Junsu fans who were not able to obtain tickets, we have decided to hold a third and final performance.” This unexpected performance will hold 4,500 audience members and the tickets will go on sale January 31st. The producers also added, “This musical will definitely demonstrate its sales strength, as it will only have 4,500 tickets available for the 30,000 Junsu fans and musical maniacs to fight over. It’s recommended to move quickly in purchasing the tickets.”
Junsu also expressed his gratitude for the massive sales records. “To those who love musicals and to my fans, I give my wholehearted thanks.”
He also showed confidence in the success of his musical: “I personally like musicals (as I’ve seen many in both Korea and overseas), and I believe that ‘Tears of Heaven’ will be a musical that will not be lacking in anything that would be expected from Broadway theatres. to those shown in Broadway theatres.”
