Korean idol group JYJ took on the Taiwan Arena on 23 April. Die-hard fans specifically carried red pen lights, and turned the entire arena into a “red ocean.” Their charm is amazing. After announcing their Taiwan performance on April Fool’s day, they managed to sell 90% of their tickets within the short 15-day sale period. They raked in NT$ 20 million (Approx US$69,156 ) for a performance of 19 songs . Fitting into the culture, JYJ asked “How is everybody” “How are your parent’s doing?” and received a resounding response.
Jaejoong As Stage Director
After settling the lawsuit with former management company SM Entertainment*, JYJ started their concert tour “JYJ World Tour Concert in 2011.” When they came to Taiwan last year for their showcase, they promised to come back for a concert as soon as possible, and after half a year, they fulfilled their promise and attracted thousands of fans who came to support them.
With Kim Jaejoong as the director, he decided that the theme of the concert would be a “Creative Challenge,” Flying in pop-up stage lifts as well as 7 electronic LED screens, spending almost NT$ 10 Million. Director Kim reached Taiwan early on 19 April, and participated in the concert production meetings, specifically asking for the T-shape stage to be made larger, from a “Small T” to a “Big T” so as to allow for more dancing movements, and increase the amount of audience interaction, showing his attention to detail.
Yoochun tries Soy Bean Milk
JYJ kicked off the passionate show with “Empty,” and Yoochun said to the fans “I’m sorry we only came over now!” Jaejoong also asked after the fans, “How is everyone doing? I really miss everybody, and we will try our best to give everyone the best performance.” There were also two encores for this performance.
JYJ didn’t have time to sight-see after they arrived in Taiwan, so the night before, Yoochun and Jaejoong seized the opportunity after rehearsal to buy soy bean milk near their hotel late at night, and took a photo that was put online. They will be leaving Taiwan today on Korea’s Asiana Airlines flight OZ712.
(*T/N: I’m sure we all know that lawsuit is not over, so this may be an error in the article.)
