With a controversy surrounding the sudden cancellation of JYJ’s performance at the KBS Jeju Music Concert for Jeju’s 7 Natural Wonders of the World nomination, JYJ’s representatives denied the claim that KBS Jeju had apologized.
CEO Baek Chang Joo of C-JeS Entertainment stated in a phone conversation with Star News in the afternoon of the 17th, “We have not received a single official apology from KBS Jeju in any form.”
CEO Baek also added, “All we received from the sponsoring representatives was a phone call from a member of the hands-on staff who merely said ‘We’re sorry,’ before we posted our official notice on our homepage. After that, we have not received a single call or an official apology.”
Before the controversy began, JYJ, who are the honorary ambassadors of Jeju’s 7 Natural Wonders of the World nomination, were planning on performing in the ‘Jeju 7 Natural Wonders of the World Nomination KBS Special’ on the 20th.
But on the 16th, JYJ’s agency C-JeS Entertainment posted an official notice on its homepage that read, “JYJ were scheduled to appear in a TV special on the 20th as honorary ambassadors of Jeju’s 7 Wonders nomination, but received a notice today, stating that their appearance has been cancelled.”
They continued to say, “We have currently asked the organizer for the specific reason as to why JYJ’s appearance has been suddenly cancelled.”
Regarding this, a representative of KBS Jeju stated in a phone conversation to Star News that, “KBS Jeju has nothing to do with JYJ’s appearance cancellation,” and “The local government of the Jeju Island is in charge of the overall planning of the music concert which includes selecting the singers who will perform.“
Representatives of the local government of Jeju Island could not be reached and the head office of KBS did not give a clear explanation.
